Joseph Edgar
Edgar, popularly known as The Duke of Shomolu, is arguably one of the most incisive salespeople in the country today.
With over a 22-year investment banking career and another seven years producing some of the most engaging stage productions, Edgar has built a very powerful and pragmatic network of contacts and associates made up of over 10,000 people, including some of the most influential and powerful Nigerians, in a very colourful and exciting working career. Joseph Edgar is a versatile author with about seven published books, a columnist, and an essayist.
He is today one of the most influential theatre producers in the country, with over 100,000 people seeing his plays in over five states of the federation.
Over the last 6 years, Edgar has produced plays on Zik, Awo, OBJ, Ogiame Atuwatse II, and Lateef Jakande, amongst some very epic historical plays, with over 200,000 Nigerians seeing the plays in Lagos, Abeokuta, Benin, Warri, Uyo, and Abuja, and pulling in such dignitaries as Prof. Yemi Osibajo, former VP of Nigeria, His Excellency Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Emir Sanusi II, to mention a few.
Last Easter, he produced Ladi Kwali, which highlighted the famous Potter and was directed by the first professor of dance, Prof. Ojo Bakare. Another of his plays, entitled Zik, attracted the Obi of Onitsha and Prof. Uche Azikiwe, Dr. Azikiwe's surviving wife.
Edgar is co-founder of Hamilton and George, an upbeat investment banking franchise with mandates in power, oil and gas, and media, amongst others.
