Laolu Thomas
Laolu Irene Thomas is a quality-oriented marketing communications professional with over 12 years of experience. Before becoming the Senior PR Manager at DStv Nigeria in August 2022, she held various marketing communications roles in the manufacturing, financial, FMCG, entertainment, and telecommunications industries. Thomas has an impeccable track record as a result-driven brand strategist with experience maximizing awareness, sales, and profitability of recognizable brands.
She earned her M.Sc. in Media and Communications from Pan-Atlantic University in 2009 and holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Lagos State University. She was previously the Corporate Communications and Partnerships Lead at 9Payment Service Bank (9PSB), handling their internal and external communications. Laolu honed her professional skills as a Senior Business Executive in Development and Strategy at CMC Connect Limited for six years before becoming the Deputy Group Head of Brands and Corporate PR at CMC Connect Burson Marsteller for two years.
At CMC, she handled Airtel’s PR and communications, leading campaigns for The Voice Nigeria, Airtel Rising Stars, Nigeria’s Got Talent, Airtel One Mic, Airtel Trace Music Stars, and more. She also worked with Lafarge Africa, Accenture Nigeria, Nigerian Bottling Company, FBNQuest Group, Skye Trustees Limited, TECNO, and more.
Laolu Thomas led the corporate communications team at Paga Limited between 2020 and 2021. She was the Regional Head of Communications and Corporate Engagement at Ajua, where she helped launch the brand. As the Senior PR Manager at DStv, Thomas continues to demonstrate impeccable skills, working on major Nigerian entertainment annual events like the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Big Brother Naija, and Nigerian Idol, among others. She also brings her wealth of knowledge and experience to creating strategic awareness of MultiChoice Nigeria, Africa Magic, and their many television programs.
