Uche Ajene is the Founder and Managing Director of Stephanie John & Associates, a Lagos-based strategic communication, PR, and research agency. Before the establishment of SJ, she served as the Managing Consultant at Quadrant MSL Nigeria, a subsidiary of the Troyka Group and part of the global MSL group headquartered in France.   At QMSL, she played a pivotal role in transforming the agency’s focus from traditional PR services to incorporating strategy and strategic thinking in providing communication solutions. Uche has also held leadership roles as Director of Marketing and Strategic Accounts at Halogen Security Limited and Group Head of Communications and Youth Accounts at FCMB Plc.   

A forward-thinking strategist, Uche Ajene possesses a rich background of domestic and international experience, having worked across the USA and Nigeria. With over two decades of professional experience in diverse industries like finance, accounting, strategic planning and management, and marketing communications, she has developed the knowledge and skills required to provide her clients with unique brand propositions, resulting in outstanding results that enhance brand visibility, loyalty, and deeper market penetration. Throughout her career, Uche has worked with an array of prominent brands in various industries. 

These include Access Bank, Microsoft, Bills & Melinda Gates Foundation, Flutterwave, Synlab, Nigerian Breweries, Bayer Pharmaceuticals Nigeria Limited, Unilever, Guinness Nigeria, Coca-Cola, and Polaris Bank. Union Bank, British Airways, Lagos State PPP, Nestle, and First Bank, to name a few.   

With an understanding of brand dynamics, she ensures to consistently deliver value to her clients by forming connections between the human elements of the brand and the target audience, thus telling relatable stories through the brand. AWARDS Uche has been honoured with a variety of nominations and recognitions, including the ELOY Awards and MAYA Awards. In 2018, she led the Wild Flower PR team to win the West African Innovation Awards for Corporate Communication Agency. 

She has been recognised by Vanguard as Outstanding CEO of the Year, while her agency has garnered awards such as Emerging Public Relations Agency of the Year 2022, Best Customer Care Award, and Most Outstanding PR Agency of the Year by Brandcom.
